Success sees Car-Free Sunday Mornings at Ayala Avenue extended until end of December 2023

This month saw the implementation of Car-Free Sunday Mornings in Makati, specifically along Ayala Avenue and the rest of the Ayala Triangle arteries. Despite the first weekend being postponed due to inclement weather, the past weekends seem to have been rather successful and with that, the initiative has been extended and will last until the end of December this year!

“Forever” equates to end of December for Car-Free Sundays

Made official via the Make It Makati Page on social media, the general public was informed that the City is answering clamors for “Sana May Forever”. Still scheduled to be from 6:00 to 10:00 AM every Sunday hereon, Car-Free Sunday calls on everyone that “Together, let’s continue enjoying the freedom of open streets, fostering healthier lifestyles, and uniting our community of runners, walkers, bikers, pet owners and furbabies, and skaters every Sunday.”

The infographic that you see directly above was released by the same social media page a few days before the announcement of Car-Free Sunday’s extension until the end of the year, but seeing as it applies to October 1 (and presumptively beyond and until the end of December), we saw fit to post it here as well.

After all, it does relate to rerouting schemes coming into and navigating around the closure of Ayala Triangle, so this is pretty important information to know. But if you need something more thorough, you can refer to our handy-dandy Car-Free Sunday Guide right here.

Seeing how so many vehicles go in and out of Makati daily, and given the recent smog and “vog” problems that Metro Manila saw last week, the few hours that limit motor vehicles and emissions can still help Mother Nature and people as well. Oh, yes, and even their pets, too.

This is the sort of effort and initiative that deserves the public’s support, so Car-Free Sundays at Ayala Avenue get a thumbs-up from us!
