With the TRB’s approval, the Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC) and Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) will be adding on a toll rate of PHP 1.00, PHP 2.00, and PHP 3.00 for vehicles Class 1, 2, and 3, respectively. The toll fee applies to the entire 7km Segment 1 (R1) Expressway of CAVITEX. Starting October 24, CAVITEX’s new toll fees are now as follows:

  • Class 1 (cars) – PHP 25
  • Class 2 (minivans and buses) – PHP 50
  • Class 3 (large trucks and trailers) – PHP 75

Furthermore, beginning October 24, the CAVITEX-C5 Link Expressway will also start collecting toll fees in its initial 2.2-kilometer segment. The new toll rates for the CAVITEX-C5 Link Expressway are as follows:

  • Class 1 (cars) – PHP 22
  • Class 2 (minivans and buses) – PHP 44
  • Class 3 (large trucks and trailers) – PHP 66

CIC President Bobby Bonita stated that the additional funds collected from the CAVITEX rate hike are for the “upkeep as well as further improvements” to the expressway, while the added funds from the CAVITEX-C5 Link toll are for the construction of the next 5.5 km of the expressway that will begin this November. The CIC estimates that the entire 7.7 km stretch of the CAVITEX-C5 Link would serve 50,000 vehicles daily. CIC also claims that with the expansion, the drive from CAVITEX Paranaque Toll Plaza, Las Pinas, Pasay, up to C5 in Taguig City can be done in under ten minutes.

CIC’s PHP 1.1-billion CAVITEX enhancement is still ongoing. Phase 1, which received a budget of PHP 800-million, included widening the lanes and construction of a left-turn facility at the Marina flyover already opened last December 2018. Phase 2, which includes widening of bridges in Wawa, Las Pinas, and Paranaque has an approved budget of PHP 300-million and is expected to be finished by May 2020.
