EKartRaceway, PH’s first indoor karting track to open on May 1, 2022

Karting was always seen as a gateway into higher levels of motorsport. Sadly, because of the global crisis, many karting venues have closed down; some temporarily, some permanently. Two years since, and we’re about to see something familiar but at the same time very new. Karting fans and enthusiasts are about to find a new home in EKartRaceway. But what makes this interesting? It will be an indoor track housed under the roof of SM City North EDSA in Quezon City.

EKartRaceway‘s circuit covers an area of 2,091 square meters and according to them, the track length is more than 300 meters with different turning radii, speeds, and elevations. There are also proprietary safety barriers and accident avoidance sensors around the track. “World-class design”, so they say. But it gets more interesting.

They won’t be using the usual gasoline-powered go-karts. Instead, EKart will be using Blue Shock Race (BSR) karts powered by electricity. The only limitation that the venue has set for users of the BSR karts is that they have to be at least 5’4″. Junior karts for individuals that are 8-17 years old will also be made available. For those aged younger than 8, EKart stated that they may allow them to drive solo depending on the child’s ability to follow instructions. There will also be dual-seat karts available for couples. As for safety, all the karts’ speeds are controlled remotely.

We did say earlier that karting is a gateway motorsport, and EKart seems to recognize this. They stated “We will have jr. training cadet clinics, an introduction to driving safely, cautiously and have some serious fun. We’ll also have driver education, racing clinics and other fun events planned. Schedule will be announced when ready.” on their official Facebook page. For those who want to start their kids racing early, this is something to consider.

The opening of EKartRaceway is slated for May 1, 2022. By that time, those who are interested can register, reserve their slots, sign their wavers, and get their briefing online. Prices are as follows:

  • Adult Karts = PHP 950 / 8 minutes
  • JR Karts = PHP 650 / 6 minutes

Race packages, as well as group and membership discounts, will also be offered soon. And for those who are really serious, they can get a league or group together and get slots and discounts by emailing EKartRaceway.

After a long absence, any form of motorsport that any enthusiast can easily access is most welcome. EKartRaceway is on to something by venturing into this business, and we can’t wait to try it out for ourselves.
