Another V12 bites the dust. Aston Martin is pulling the plug on its grand tourer, the DBS, but it’s not going to do so without a proper send-off. With a limited run, the DBS 770 Ultimate Edition will be the model’s swan song as it rides off into the British sunset. We wish it wasn’t so, but yes, it’s happening.
Only 499 units of the Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate will be built
It’s only been less than 5 years since the DBS was first launched. Fast forward to 2023 and the badge is saying goodbye. The British marque is touting this special and limited edition as the “ultimate finale to a bloodline…a final edition flagship to surpass them all. They also said that everyone can expect “ferocious performance” and a “sharper dynamic focus coupled with exquisite design”.
Not much was shown in the video posted on the official Aston Martin YouTube page, but they did announce the importance and significance of the “770” in its name. The send-off model, as you might have surmised already at this point, will pump out 770PS of power. That is a lot more than the standard DBS that already produces about 725PS. That alone makes it “ferocious” and as proper a send-off as it gets, right?
Aside from that, everyone is still in the dark as to what else the 770 will be packing, and how different it will be from, say, the Superlegerra kind. Again, only 499 will be made – ever – and with that fact, we can safely assume that this will fetch the highest price tag of any DBS ever built.
It’s set to be “uncaged” in early 2023, though, and that information is enough to get our excitement up as early as now. Everyone, especially fans of the DBS is unavoidably sad with this news, but the fact remains that we still have something big to look forward to. Such a nameplate won’t go quietly into the night, and as was said in the video, “A storm is coming”.
Oh, what a storm the Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate is bound to stir.
