The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series, set to debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, showcases high performance and advanced features. This isn’t your regular Mustang or Mustang GT.
This model highlights Ford’s commitment to innovation with a new Performance pack that boosts agility, a driver-focused interior, and exposed carbon-fiber elements. The Mustang GTD, with its Chroma Flame paint, aims to make a significant impression at its European debut.
The standout feature is the Performance package, designed to achieve a sub-7-minute lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. It includes dive planes, a larger splitter on the front fascia, underbody flaps, and a drag reduction system for the rear wing. These active aerodynamic components reduce drag while maintaining grip during cornering. The package also offers a Lightweight option, which removes some sound-deadening material and adds 20-inch magnesium wheels and a unique front fascia.
“Many sports cars excel at one thing, but to set a quick lap at the Nürburgring, a car needs to be great at everything,” said Greg Goodall, Mustang GTD Chief Engineer. “From the lightweight carbon fiber body to the active aerodynamics, we’ve learned from motorsport to make the Mustang GTD excel everywhere.”
The interior of the Mustang GTD is designed to keep drivers focused and confident. It features standard Recaro seats and a new GTD steering wheel. This flat-bottom steering wheel has a thick, well-padded rim with premium Dinamica inserts and a leather wrap, along with carbon-fiber inserts. The GTD-exclusive steering wheel also includes buttons for adjusting suspension firmness and exhaust mode, enabling drivers to make adjustments without taking their eyes off the road.
The Mustang GTD includes advanced technology like 3D-printed titanium paddle shifters for the eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle managing the supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine. These oversized shifters are both lightweight and tactile, enhancing the driving experience.
The Mustang GTD also features a Sync 4 infotainment system powered by Unreal Gaming technology. The system includes GTD-specific welcome and farewell graphics on the 13.2-inch touchscreen and a 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster. The new Performance gauge cluster prioritizes essential information, like the gear indicator and tachometer.
The Mustang GTD’s European debut coincides with the opening of its application window for the European market. Prospective customers in the European Union can apply to purchase this model starting at 1 P.M. CET on June 13 through their website.
The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series represents a blend of advanced technology, high performance, and refined design, setting a new standard for the Mustang lineup.
