We got a sneak peek at the All-new 2024 Hyundai Stargazer X in Indonesia
The Hyundai Stargazer is one of Hyundai’s most important vehicles, this 7-seater MPV has been a top-seller for the brand not just in the Philippines but in other markets as well. Naturally, the brand is keen to keep the momentum going, and they’ve done so by launching an all-new variant of the Stargazer, the Stargazer X.
We were lucky enough to get a sneak peek of the vehicle during the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), so here’s what the new variant has to offer.
Hyundai Stargazer X
- PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) today officially launched its newest product, Hyundai STARGAZER X at GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023, which took place at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia. STARGAZER X presents a versatile crossover that offers a fun mobility experience complemented by a wide range of high-tech features to support Indonesian users’ needs and daily lifestyles. WooJune Cha, President Director of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia, said, “Hyundai is proud to launch STARGAZER X as a car that can answer and meet society’s needs and demands for a vehicle with a spacious and luxurious interior that provides comfort for dynamic driving performance and equipped with superior features and high-tech specifications. We hope that STARGAZER X can become a traveling companion in any condition anywhere and anytime. With the latest design and innovation, let’s unleash the X in you with STARGAZER X.”
On the same occasion, Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, Chief Operating Officer of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia explained, “The Hyundai STARGAZER X has been designed based on the aspirations of Indonesian customers. Carrying the concept of “Unleash the X in You”, the
Hyundai STARGAZER X also presents a vehicle that offers comfort and a stylish design appearance, accomplished with complete safety features to ensure the best mobility experience.” Specially designed for the Indonesian market, STARGAZER X presents two rare colors. Jaesup Park, Senior Designer, Exterior Design Team Hyundai Motor Company stated “STARGAZER X introduces matte exterior colors to the Indonesia market for the first time which include Optic White Matte and Gravity Gold Matte. These colors have the remarkable ability to add a touch of confidence and power that demands attention.”
STARGAZER X is powered by a smartstream G4FIII 1.5 MPI Inline 4 Cylinder DOHC engine that produces maximum power and torque up to 115ps/6,300rpm and 143.8Nm/4,500rpm for responsive engine performance. The performance of STARGAZER X is supported by Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). This transmission is guaranteed to increase engine efficiency to be more fuel efficient. In
addition, the IVT is also lighter in weight than a conventional automatic transmission engine. To be even more effective, STARGAZER X also has a Cruise Control feature, which keeps the car’s speed stable without repeatedly pressing the accelerator pedal, thus providing more
comfort when driving on an empty road. Four Drive Mode are available in STARGAZER X, including Eco, Normal, Smart, and Sport,
allowing users to choose the mode that suits their needs freely. For example, Eco mode for more fuel-efficient usage or Sport mode for maximum acceleration and performance.
STARGAZER X is available in a 7-seater type that provides more comfort when traveling with more friends and family, even for long trips. To emphasize the luxuriousness further, Hyundai also offers captain seat configuration as an option in all variants of STARGAZER X. The captain seat has an armrest that allows passengers in the second row to ease their hands. It also allows passengers to adjust the seat freely, whether forward, backward, upright, or reclined. Users can also feel more cozy thanks to the ample room in the cabin area that gives a sense of spaciousness. The car’s fabric or synthetic leather seats* are decorated with red stitching to give a bold, luxurious impression. Apart from that, STARGAZER X also offers a back seat table* for passengers in the second row.
Hyundai maintains its commitment to presenting a worry-free driving experience on the
STARGAZER X by embedding the latest safety features through Hyundai SmartSense. One of them is Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)*, designed to detect and warn the driver when a vehicle is approaching. If needed, this feature will automatically brake.
Then, the Driver Attention Warning (DAW)* feature is also available.
As the name implies, this feature analyzes the driver’s alertness while driving the STARGAZER X. If the driver is detected as out of focus, the system will give a notification to take a short break, thereby preventing potential accidents when driving long distances. STARGAZER X is also equipped with Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Lane Following Assist (LFA)* features. With LKA, the car’s system guides the driver in the right lane and advises not to go off-track.
The LFA feature also ensures that the vehicle stays in the middle of the lane with the help of the front camera on STARGAZER X. The Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)* feature is also present. Users now don’t need to worry about blind spot areas. The BCA feature uses radar sensors to monitor blindspot areas around STARGAZER X, reducing the risk of collision with other vehicles or objects. STARGAZER X also has been equipped with a Forward and Reverse Parking Distance Warning (PDW), which is capable of detecting objects in front of the car while it is parking. Other safety features on STARGAZER X are even more perfect with Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist (RCCA)*, Safe Exit Warning (SEW)*, and High Beam Assist (HBA)*.
So basically the new Stargazer X is Hyundai’s answer to the Xpander Cross and Honda BR-V, and while it is currently only available in Indonesia, Hyundai Motor Philippines has confirmed that the unit will make its way to the Philippines before 2023 ends. We can expect it to be similarly spec’d to the Indonesia version with prices higher than the normal Stargazer on sale already.
