Is this the all-new Honda CR-V?

Last week, a Chinese Automotive publication autohome.com, posted an article that had pictures of what seemed to be the all-new Honda CR-V.

The article added further that the information seems to have come from a Government agency, specifically the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It seems that this leaked all-new Honda CR-V model is the result of a production partnership between local Chinese manufacturer Dongfeng and Honda.

All-new Honda CR-V Details

This all-new Honda CR-V is reportedly still available as a 7-seater (just like the current model on sale), what’s interesting is that it’s now longer. the all-new CR-V has a length, width, and height of 4703/1866/1680mm and a wheelbase of 2701mm. Compared with the 2661mm of the current generation model.

Design-wise, the all-new Honda CR-V adopts a new look, which is (not) surprisingly similar to the recently launched Honda HR-V. In fact, the front fascia of both cars is eerily similar. The only difference coming at the rear, the all-new Honda CR-V still retains a slightly modernized version of its iconic taillights. Unfortunately, there are no interior shots of the leaked CR-V.

As for power, the leak article mentioned it will be powered by a 1.5-Liter turbocharged engine (L15BZ) produced by Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. Again no specifics were mentioned other than that.

This is a significant leak if true, however, while the Philippine market does get some units from China; Honda Philippines will probably source local units for sale from Thailand as they always have. Knowing this, expect significant differences in terms of specifications and technology from the China model. The look though could more or less be the same.

Honda CR-V fans, stay tuned.

  1. I don’t find the new design of 2023 CRV impressive, more especially the front. The presence of the chrome metal makes it look like there’s a muffler in front. I’ve been an owner of two models.of CRV and have been waiting for the release of the new model. Unfortunately, I find the design disappointing. It’s a far cry from the looks of the soon-to-be-released Kia Sportage which has a more futuristic appeal. Hope Honda can tweak the design of its new CRV to have an elegant but.more modern look. And please, remove the muffler-looking metal in front.
