Given the backlog of license plate distribution, the LTO is working double time to cut the numbers down. Motorists already have the means to check on the availability of their plates and have information on how and where to get them. To help this along, the Land Transportation Office launched a distribution campaign in Region 7 – Central Visayas – for a faster and more orderly handing off of plates. If your vehicle is registered there, you may want to read on.
LTO Central Visayas begins Plate Distribution Campaign
The LTOPlateReplacement.com website was recently launched 82, and this site gives motorists a way to check if their vehicle’s replacement plates are already available. The Plate Distribution Campaign of the Land Transportation Office is an added way for those, particularly in Region 7, to have the agency send them word if their plates are ready for claiming.
So what do you need to do if your vehicle is registered in Central Visayas and you’ve been waiting for your plates?
First, and again, make sure that your motor vehicles and/or motorcycles are registered in Region 7 (Central Visayas) by checking your Certificate of Registration. What you’re looking for is the MV File No. and it should start with “0701”. If that’s been confirmed, the vehicle owner will simply have to go to the nearest LTO office and submit clear copies of the MV or MC’s Certificate of Registration and its latest Official Receipt to the PACD-in-charge. Once that’s done, all that needs to be done is to wait for a text confirmation on the plate status and/or when to claim it.
The releasing of plates will be done at the LTO office where vehicle owners submit their OR/CR or at the Plate Distribution Area at SM Seaside City for LTO 7 offices within Cebu & Mandaue Cities; the latter will be on an appointment basis. LTO 7 will announce other possible points and releasing centers in all areas within the region as they are assigned.
On the other hand, those waiting for replacement plates applied and paid in 2015 can only claim them at the District Offices where these were last transacted and paid. Clients may refer to their Official Receipt (OR) to check the District Office where it was paid and claim their plates there.
If you’ve reached this point and if you’re not from Region 7, we know what you’re thinking: “What about those in Metro Manila”? As it stands, we don’t have any campaign of this sort just yet, but we’d like to think that the LTO will eventually roll something similar out, not just in Metro Manila but in other regions as well.
While we’re waiting, perhaps you’d like to read about our experience in claiming our license plate 15. It was quite fast and easy, and you can find that story here. We only hope that this is how it will be once more plates become available and even more motor vehicles start coming into LTO offices to claim theirs.
Okay, Land Transportation Office. What do you have for the rest of us?
