Those waiting for their plastic Driver’s License cards may get theirs sooner rather than later. The LTO has continued to receive a steady flow of plastic cards used for printing licenses and with those, they have steadily printed and released cards to motorists. It seems the lifting of the Writ of Preliminary Injunction is doing the Land Transportation Office and the public a lot of good.
600,000 more blank plastic cards received by LTO
About a week ago, the LTO has again taken delivery of an additional 600,000 blank plastic cards from their official supplier. A continuous flow of supplies will prove integral to the agency cutting down the already massive backlog of plastic driver’s license cards that the motoring public has been waiting for for a (very) long time now.
“With today’s delivery of 600,000, this will ensure the continuity of the schedule of renewal which we issued last month,” LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II said. “Magiging tuloy-tuloy ito hanggang makumpletong ma-deliver ang 3.2 million pieces ng plastic cards {This will continue until 3.2 million plastic cards are completely delivered]. We expect the completion of the delivery within 45 days after the first delivery on March 25.”
Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista also chimed in on the fresh delivery of cards to the LTO. “The 600,000 cards will fill the backlog from the previous year. Meron pa tayo nung additional na 1 million na nai-deliver sa LTO noong nakaraan [We still have an additional 1 million that was also delivered to the LTO],” he said as he turned over the first license card that was printed since the Court of Appeals lifted the writ of preliminary injunction issued by a Quezon City court in 2023.
“Now that the writ is lifted, we can now proceed with the issuance of license cards for new DL applicants and those who will renew,” Sec. Bautista later added.
With the cards coming in and licenses (to be) rolled out and delivered, the LTO has issued a notice on the new Driver’s License Renewal schedules for everyone, and it can be found by clicking here 16.
ASec. Mendoza said they have already obtained the list of regional and district offices and the number of plastic cards they need for the ongoing processing and distribution of plastic-printed driver’s licenses which started on Monday, April 15. With that, everyone is hoping that they’ll finally be rid of the paper-printed licenses and finally get the license that they deserve.
