Michael Schumacher is considered by some as the G.O.A.T (greatest of all time) Formula 1 (F1) driver. His steely and almost unapologetic determination to utterly dominate the competition just added to his lore.
Of course, part of his lore has to be some of the dominant cars that the great man has piloted over the course of his career. One of the strongest has to be the Ferrari F2003, which has recently just set a new auction record.
Ferrari F2003 sells for a pretty penny
The car in question was the vehicle that powered Michael to his 6th driver’s world championship. It was recently sold during Sotheby’s Luxury Week auction, the F2003 sold for an eye-watering USD 14,873,327PHP 875,506,495INR 1,265,162,378EUR 14,282,856CNY 108,541,078 (PHP 862,000,000USD 14,636,760INR 1,245,848,600EUR 14,093,700CNY 106,888,000).
This makes the car a new world record holder for the famous auction house, it is now the most valuable modern F1 car in history, beating the record previously set by the Ferrari F2002 which was also driven by Schumacher to one of his seven Formula One titles.
Take note, it’s the most expensive “modern” F1 car sold at auction, the most expensive vintage F1 car sold belongs to another world champion. The champion in question? the other person in the G.O.A.T conversation, the Argentinian Juan Manuel Fangio. The 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196R sold for USD 29,650,095PHP 1,745,329,122INR 2,522,111,206EUR 28,472,986CNY 216,377,498 or PHP 1.7USD 0.03INR 2EUR 0.03CNY 0.21-billion.
