Monterey Car Week 2024: Acura unveils Integra Type S HRC Prototype
Acura introduced the Integra Type S HRC Prototype at Monterey Car Week, revealing a potential new line of Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) performance parts. These parts, developed by HRC race engineers, aim to enhance street and track performance for Acura enthusiasts.

Developed by HRC US in Southern California, the Integra Type S HRC Prototype enhances the driving experience by improving engine, suspension, and braking performance while significantly reducing weight.
Designed at the Acura Design Studio in Los Angeles, the Integra Type S HRC Prototype features aggressive styling. It incorporates aerodynamic elements from the Integra Type S TCX racecar, including a new front fascia with a larger splitter and cooling ducts, hood vents, side splitters, and an adjustable carbon fiber rear wing. These features increase downforce and improve high-speed stability. The bodywork is finished in Indy Yellow Pearl paint, a color first seen on the second-generation NSX supercar. Custom aluminum HRC badges add a distinctive touch.
To improve performance, the Integra Type S HRC Prototype uses carbon fiber components, reducing its weight by nearly 200 lbs. from the standard Integra Type S. These components include the hood, rear door panels, and Recaro bucket seats. The rear seat has been replaced with a carbon shelf to securely transport track-day wheels and tires. An optional air conditioning delete further reduces weight.
While the turbocharged 2.0-liter VTEC engine’s power output remains the same, its response and cooling performance are enhanced with a larger intercooler, twin oil coolers, and a tuned, lightweight exhaust system. The track-ready suspension is lowered by 15mm and features tuned coilovers, an adjustable rear anti-roll bar, and adjustable camber plates. Forged lightweight 19 x 9.5-inch wheels with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires improve handling and give the car an aggressive stance. The car also features upgraded brakes with 381mm front rotors and Brembo 6-piston calipers, along with improved brake cooling.
The interior includes a reinforced rear bulkhead with an X-Brace, black Alcantara trim, yellow seatbelts, and stitching that matches the exterior paint.
For those that don’t know, Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC US) oversees Honda and Acura high-performance racing programs in North America, including IndyCar and IMSA sports cars. Established in 1993 as Honda Performance Development (HPD) and rebranded in January 2024, HRC US combines with HRC Japan to enhance the company’s motorsports capabilities. Starting in 2026, HRC will partner with Aston Martin Aramco F1 team as the official engine supplier for Formula One.
