A few months ago, rumors circulated about the launch of the all-new Territory as well as the new Ranger Raptor. The Territory is already here, and lo and behold, the Raptor is coming. Ford PH has recently sent out invitations to the Media for the much-anticipated launch of the Raptor and we have a date: May 18, 2023.
Ford Ranger Raptor PH debut set a week from now
We first saw an in-person preview of the Ranger Raptor at this year’s recently concluded Manila International Auto Show. Ford didn’t go into details about what’s under the hood and frame, or what’s inside of the Raptor, but we do have a slight idea of what’s there. It’s been more than a year since the covers were pulled and off deliveries to other countries have begun, but here’s what we know so far.
As with the previous generation, the new Ranger Raptor will likely come with the unique bits and bobs that make it the predator that it is. A newer tougher lightweight aluminum upper and lower control arms long-travel front and rear suspension, and a Watt’s link rear end, the famous Fox branded underpinnings, and the variable drive modes including Baja are most likely going into the new Raptor.
There may be one big difference, though. The Raptor got a 3.0-liter Twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 that puts out 288PS and 491Nm of torque for the European market, and one with 392PS and 583Nm of torque for Australia and other select markets. We’re guessing the power plant under the Raptor’s hood will be downsized similar to that in the locally available Everest and Ranger. That motor is a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine that puts out 208 HP and 500 Nm of pull while being paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
We don’t expect more information from the mouth of Ford PH itself ahead of the Ranger Raptor’s upcoming launch. Other markets have already been enjoying it for some time now, and it’s about time we get our hands on it, too. We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open if anything comes up on the grapevine, but really, fans or not, this should be pretty exciting.
