Honda PH proudly shows off with preview of Civic e:HEV ahead of PIMS 2024 reveal

The Americas have recently revealed the Honda Civic e:HEV. For those who have been waiting on whether or not it will make its way to the Philippines, you can rest easy because it’s been confirmed by Honda Cars Philippines that it will, indeed, join our local lineup! Yes, that’s right! A hybrid variant is on its way, and here’s what beans have been spilled thus far.

Sneak peek at the Honda Civic e:HEV

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) held a rather intimate event yesterday – also broadcast via Facebook Live – to take the covers off of the new hybrid Civic variant. HCPI President Rie Miyake took to the stage and before the brief reveal, she went to talk about the brand’s electrification efforts and the value that it places on carbon neutrality and safety for everyone. This is a route that it still maintains that it will travel on, and we aren’t complaining at all.

Now, on to the hybrid Civic. As expected, it will be the top-of-the-line variant being an RS, and it will of course feature the Honda SENSING safety suite as well as Honda Connect. Also, and for the first time, it will feature Google Automotive Services built-in. It will employ Honda’s 2-motor hybrid system that confidently promises “unparalleled fuel economy” and “high quality and exhilarating driving”.

Oh, and let’s look at its tagline, too: “Drives Like A Dream”.

No specifics were mentioned since this is but a very quick and brief preview, but it has been guaranteed that it truly will be introduced during PIMS 2024 which happens next month. That’s one more thing to look forward to, yes?

Before ending this, we would also like to point out how, in Miyake-San’s presentation, that there was a slide that showed a CR-V, the upcoming hybrid Civic, and four other vehicles, albeit covered, under the “e:HEV” banner. Underneath, it also reads “Expanded Hybrid Lineup”. If we were to surmise, this could mean four more models that will inevitably be electrified and offered in the Philippines, and that’s very good news, indeed.

Now remains the issue of pricing. We all know that the CR-V does have a pretty commanding tag, and the Civic already does have a pretty lofty figure as it is. If the more “economical” choices from Honda do go the electrified route, how will it affect their pricing; will they go up astronomically or will the increase be manageable, thus helping the push towards a carbon-neutral Honda vehicle lineup? We’ll just have to wait and see.

For now, let’s all just watch out for the new Honda Civic e:HEV. Regardless of its commas and zeros, we’d like to think that its future-proof legacy will only grow stronger.
