No more waiting, the new Suzuki XL7 Hybrid launches today, March 18, 2024

After the successful launch of the Ertiga Hybrid, it was expected that the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid would soon follow. A year since the Ertiga’s debut, and about nine months since the mild hybrid XL7 was launched in Indonesia, the PH is finally getting the second 7-seater of Suzuki to join the local MPV wars. So what can we expect?

The new Suzuki XL7 Hybrid features an updated front end along with a redesign on the front grill. A horizontal chrome accent piece runs the width of the front integrating into the headlight assemblies’ DRLs. Headlights being mentioned, they now use LEDs as well.

As expected, black cladding can be found on the front, sides, and rear of the XL7, all contributing to its gruffer, sportier look compared to its Ertiga cousin. The black accents continue to the door pillars and the roof as well for the two-tone variant. Adding a bit of refinement to its looks are silver accent pieces all around plus on the roof rails of the XL7 Hybrid.

The rear also gets an update with the 3-dimensional LED tail lamps with vertical guide lights and the new panel design that was implemented in the tailgate.

The interior of the XL7 Hybrid continues with its minimalist but sporty design. Black is the upholstery color of choice and silver accent pieces adorn the different parts of the dashboard, steering wheel, door cards, and cabin to liven up the cabin.

Driver accompaniments and interior amenities include a new-design gauge cluster with a multi-information display, a keyless push-start button, front and rear vents powered by an automatic air conditioning system, a 10-inch infotainment screen, ventilated cupholders, and even a driver’s seat height adjuster.

Space for passengers and cargo is plenty, as is expected of the XL7. The combination of the 60:40 2nd row and 50:50 folding of the 3rd row seats makes for versatile configurations that will suit any need. With the 3rd row down, standard cargo space in the trunk is up to 550 liters of space, and with the middle row down, that goes up to an impressive 803-liter capacity. There is also a good number of cubbies and door pockets that can hold different objects and water bottles for everyone’s convenience.

Powering the XL7 Hybrid is the same K15B motor with an ISG or Integrated Starter Generator; this is what classifies this XL7 as a mild hybrid. The engine is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission, and it makes about 105 HP and 138 Nm of torque.

The mild hybrid system carries a 12V battery with a 0.72 kWh-capacity Lithium-ion battery. The electric motor’s power output is rated at 1.768 kW while delivering 50 Nm of torque.

Only one variant of the XL7 Hybrid will be offered – the GLX – but it will come with a choice of either a monotone or two-tone paint scheme. The former’s colors are Magma Gray Metallic, Brave Khaki Pearl, and Snow White Pearl. The latter will have Savanna Ivory Metallic/Cool Black Pearl Metallic or Rising Orange Pearl Metallic/Cool Black Pearl Metallic.

The monotone XL7 Hybrid is priced at PHP 1,252,000 while the two-tone options get a PHP 1,262,000 price tag.

In conjunction with the launch, Suzuki Philippines is offering an exclusive Early Reservation Promo, allowing customers to secure their spot with a minimum deposit of PHP 5,000 from March 18th until March 31, 2024. Customers who reserve within this period will enjoy a PHP 50,000 discount from the total SRP for cash and bank P.O. transactions or a discounted downpayment for financing, ensuring exceptional value for the most affordable 7-seater MPV crossover with hybrid technology.

If it’s anything to go by, the performance of the XL7 Hybrid’s performance may not be too far off from the Ertiga Hybrid, and that is a good thing by our reckoning. It may not be exempted from Coding given that it’s a mild hybrid, but we’re pretty sure that with what it’s packing, plus its overall value for money, the XL7 Hybrid will continue to sell very well in the PH market.

Now we’ll just have to Review it to make and give our final verdict.
