Bertone has introduced the new Runabout, a modern reinterpretation of one of the brand’s most radical design studies, first conceived in 1969. Presented as the first model under the Bertone Classic label, the Runabout translates historical design ideas into a contemporary, performance-focused sports car.

The exterior design is defined by two key elements: a forward-leaning wedge profile and a continuous horizontal beltline inspired by nautical forms. These features create a clean, easily recognizable silhouette that reflects Bertone’s traditional emphasis on proportion and form.

The Runabout will be offered in two configurations, Barchetta and Targa, both emphasizing open-air driving. Inside, the cabin adopts a minimalist approach, featuring a horizontal, deck-style dashboard, exposed mechanical components, and a digital tachometer positioned as the central visual element.

Each Runabout is hand-built using traditional coachbuilding techniques. It is based on a lightweight chassis and powered by a supercharged V6 engine making 476 hp and 490 Nm paired with a six-speed manual transmission, with a focus on an analogue driving experience. Production will be limited to 25 units, with each car individually specified through Bertone’s CMF Atelier.

The Runabout is scheduled to make its world premiere at Rétromobile 2026, where it will be displayed alongside the Bertone GB110. The joint presentation highlights Bertone’s focus on both heritage-inspired design and modern performance.
