Mitsubishi Motors will begin selling the all-new Eclipse Sportback in the United States and Canada in the second half of 2026, through its sales subsidiaries Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) and Mitsubishi Motors Sales of Canada (MMSCAN). The model is a battery electric vehicle sourced from Nissan Motor Co. on an OEM basis.
Aside from the look alone, those details are already a dead giveaway that the new Eclipse Sportback is a rebadged Nissan LEAF EV.

The Eclipse Sportback is an electric subcompact SUV positioned for both daily use and leisure driving. While the vehicle is mechanically supplied by Nissan, Mitsubishi Motors applied its own exterior modifications to distinguish it visually. These include the front and rear bumpers, front grille, headlights, rear combination lamps, rear gate, D-pillars, and wheels.

The Eclipse Sportback is part of a broader product collaboration between Mitsubishi Motors and Nissan under their Alliance partnership. Current OEM arrangements already run in both directions: Mitsubishi supplies Nissan with the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid for North America, the Navara for Oceania, and the Livina for the Philippines, while sourcing the Versa Van from Nissan for the Philippine market. The two companies are also working together on new pickup trucks for North America and kei-cars for Japan.
Mitsubishi Motors said it will continue using partnerships to expand its lineup and improve profitability.
