Toyota has expanded its GR Corolla lineup, offering both manual transmission and a new 8-speed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission (DAT) with paddle shifters. This addition caters to a broader range of sports car enthusiasts.
Following the GR Corolla’s 2022 debut, Akio Toyoda, known as MORIZO, pushed the team to continue innovating. As a result, the GR Corolla now features the new DAT, designed for optimal sporty driving. Tested rigorously, including at Fuji International Speedway, the GR team increased engine torque from 370 Nm to 400 Nm and improved the suspension.
The exterior now has a redesigned front bumper for better cooling and aerodynamics. Inside, the cabin features new trim finishes and switches, enhancing the driving experience with a sporty vibe.
The 8-speed DAT offers quick shifting and optimal gear selection, enhancing the driving experience by anticipating the driver’s intentions. This transmission allows drivers to focus more on driving maneuvers, potentially improving performance on the track.
For 2025, the GR Corolla retains its turbocharged G16E-GTS 1.6-liter 3-cylinder engine, producing 300 hp and 400 Nm of torque. An automatic transmission fluid cooler is standard on DAT models, with additional cooling options available.
The GR Corolla features the rally-developed GR-FOUR All-Wheel-Drive system, allowing drivers to select from Normal, Gravel, or Track AWD modes to optimize torque distribution. Front and rear Torsen® Limited-Slip Differentials are standard, and launch control is included on DAT models for powerful acceleration.
The GR Corolla’s front bumper redesign accommodates cooling components and improves airflow, as well as aerodynamics.
The GR Corolla includes an eight-inch digital gauge cluster and Toyota Audio Multimedia system with an eight-inch touchscreen. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Other connected services include Safety Connect, Service Connect, and a one-year trial of Remote Connect.
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, featuring Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, and Automatic High Beams.
In the US, the GR Corolla will be offered in three trim levels:
Core Grade: Fabric sport seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, sports-tuned suspension, and aggressive styling.
Premium Grade: Suede-trimmed seats, JBL® Premium Audio, dual-zone climate control, and parking sensors.
Premium Plus Grade: Carbon fiber roof, bulge hood, matte black wheels, and a heads-up display.
Complimentary NASA Membership
The icing on the cake for those living in the US is that a purchase of a 2025 GR Corolla includes a one-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association (NASA), which offers benefits like a free High Performance Driving Event and discounts on NASA-sanctioned events. Now, if only Toyota Motor Philippines were to offer such a program for GR Yaris and GR86 owners.
There is no word yet if the GR Corolla will be coming here in the Philippines, but it could be a great addition to their performance lineup should it come to our shores.
