So the inevitable has happened and I’m going to cover an event I’m not really very familiar with. Ford Motor Philippines is bringing me to Thailand next week to see the 32nd Bangkok International Motor Show.

I’ve been to local motor shows before and wrote about it here (like the Manila Int’l Auto Show 2009) for the past two years but the amount of tech-related stories aren’t that many (only one that interests me was this cheap Reva Electric Car). I think it was at that auto show where I first saw the Lancer EX which I now drive.

Hopefully, I’ll be seeing more tech at the Bangkok Motor Show compared to the repetitive and not-so-exciting local auto show here. Ford promises some tech teasers in their booth:

A robot presenter, a 3D mini-theatre, a driving simulator for the all-new Ranger, a virtual Driving Skills for Life safe-driving video game, and a personal interactive towing challenge, are just some of the dazzling exhibits and features that Ford expects will draw a continuous crowd to its stand.

They’ll let us in on the launching of their new Ford Ranger and, hopefully, I get to drive one of them during our 4-day trip there.

The 32nd Bangkok International Motor Show runs from March 25 to April 4 at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani.

In addition to the new Ranger, the Ford stand will feature a full lineup of the hot-selling Ford Fiesta; a new, special-equipped Ford Focus; an upgraded Ford Everest SUV and Ford Ranger WildTrak edition.

So this is just some sort of a fair warning to my readers here that I might do more than the usual “automotive” coverage next week (don’t worry, I’ll be putting in the tech slant with each story).
