We’ve been seeing a number of videos concerning e-bikes lately and as anticipated, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) was able to notice the trend and has expressed concern.
As reported by ABS-CBN News, electric vehicles are covered by the Land Transportation Code according to LTO and must be registered and used with a license. Sellers, even buyers, of e-bikes should know about it, the agency added.
Just this week, the agency was able to confiscate e-bikes plying along EDSA, Commonwealth Avenue and main thoroughfares of Pasay City. LTO is also gathering a list of e-bike sellers to have a dialog with them.
If you’re planning on getting one, think twice for now as we let concerned agencies take a look into the issue.
