First previewed during the Japan Mobility Show 2025, the TZ is part of Lexus’ broader strategy to introduce vehicles centered on unique customer experiences. The brand assigned the theme “DISCOVER LIMITLESS” to the new model, highlighting its focus on expanding lifestyle possibilities through electrified mobility.

The TZ was developed as a dedicated BEV SUV designed to combine lounge-like passenger comfort with Lexus’ signature driving performance. Lexus said the vehicle was engineered to deliver a spacious, relaxing cabin while maintaining dynamic handling and refinement.

Using a dedicated electric vehicle platform paired with a simple, open cabin layout, Lexus claims the design improves interior space across all three rows while enhancing ride comfort and quietness. The cabin also features a wide movable panoramic roof and “Forged Bamboo” trim material made from bamboo sourced from Shikoku, Japan, as part of the company’s sustainability efforts.

According to Lexus, the TZ delivers top-class aerodynamic performance among Lexus SUVs as of May 2026. The company said the aerodynamic efficiency contributes to improved driving range while maintaining the strong proportions expected from a luxury SUV.

The automaker also introduced several technologies to improve passenger comfort and driving engagement. These include a “Rear Comfort” mode that prioritizes rear-seat ride quality using electrification technologies, and “Interactive Manual Drive,” which is designed to create a more engaging driving experience for the driver.

Chief Engineer Takeshi Miyaura said the TZ was developed to balance comfort, design, and driving enjoyment while making the most of the advantages of battery-electric vehicles.
Miyaura said the development team focused heavily on integrating aerodynamics and styling while creating a lounge-like environment in every seat. He added that the vehicle’s quietness and acoustics were also prioritized, describing the TZ as a space where occupants can fully enjoy music and time spent inside the cabin.

The Lexus TZ prototype measures 5,100 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,705 mm high, with a 3,050 mm wheelbase. It uses an all-wheel-drive setup powered by front- and rear-mounted electric motors producing 167 kW each, for a combined system output of 300 kW (407.8 PS).

Lexus said the TZ can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. The SUV is equipped with a 95.82-kWh battery pack and supports multiple charging standards, including NACS, CHAdeMO, CCS, GB/T, Type 1, and Type 2, depending on the market. Seeing as this is available with the Type 2, the TZ could make it to the Philippine market.

As for juicing up the TZ, Lexus estimates a 10-80% DC fast charging time of around 35 minutes with a 150-kW charger.
Estimated driving range varies by region, with Lexus quoting up to 300 miles in North America, 620 km in Japan, 530 km in Europe, and 640 km in China.
Cargo capacity ranges from 290 liters to 2,017 liters, while towing capacity is rated at 1.5 tons.
