For those planning to go to Subic, here’s a heads-up for you. Starting today, a portion of the Subic Freeport Expressway (SFEX) will be closed. A counterflow traffic scheme will be implemented from 9:00 PM – 4:00 AM to give way to engineering works under the expressway also named the Jadjad Bridge.
SFEX affected lanes
The affected portion stretches 2 kilometers along the Subic-bound direction of the expressway. Vehicles will be led to counterflow along the Tarlac-bound lane while the opposite lanes are closed. To help ensure ease of traffic flow, traffic teams will be deployed before, during, and until the lanes reopen in the morning. Along with manpower, directional signs have also been put up in high-visibility areas for people to take heed of the SFEX roadworks ahead.
Not too many pass along the expressway late at night until the wee hours of the morning, but it’s always better to be informed and to plan your trip to and/or from Subic ahead of time, regardless. Since SFEX is the quickest and easiest way to get into the freeport area, it’s best to not get caught unaware.
