Uber is in a hot seat again as the Land Transporation Franchising and Regulatory Board calls out their new services to be “colorum”.
The LTFRB warns the public about the upcoming UberMOTO in Cebu and the new UberXL in Manila. The new services from Uber Philippines are not recognized by the regulating agency. UberMOTO is an online booking service for habal-habal while UberXL is a more spacious option of the existing UberX service that seats up to 6 people.
LTFRB points out that Uber didn’t properly coordinate before implementing and advertising UberMOTO and UberXL. Also, they believe that a habal-habal is not suited for public transport.
Uber, on the other hand, maintained that they have already sent a letter to LTFRB regarding UberXL.
