Important advisory: CAVITEX will implement temporary counterflow scheme from Sep. 15-25, 2023

Those who take CAVITEX daily will find this information pretty important. Starting September 15, 2023, a counterflow scheme will be implemented in the area of the Paranaque toll plaza. The modified traffic flow will be from 10:00 PM – 4:00 AM, with the Manila-bound lane counterflowing first from September 15-19, with the Cavite-bound lane following from September 19-25. This will be implemented due to the girder launching activity of the CAVITEX C5 Link.

Counterflow along both directions of CAVITEX starts mid-September

The planned counterflow scheme will take up the good part of almost one and a half weeks. Depending on what direction you’re going, it will be just before or right after the Paranaque Toll Plaza of CAVITEX.

For a better idea, you can refer to the two infographics directly above.

The first “phase” of the counterflow scheme will be from September 15-19, and this will see Manila-bound motorists counterflow into the Cavite-bound lanes. Beginning September 19 until the 25th, this will change and at that time, the Cavite-bound vehicles will have to counterflow into the Manila-bound lanes of the highway.

The temporary traffic scheme will make way for the girder launching of the CAVITEX C5 Link. Construction was scheduled to have started in the first quarter of this year.

“… a vital segment of the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway Project (MCTEP), so far, we managed to open 3.8-kilometer (Segment 3A1 and 3A2) to the motoring public, serving more than 16,000 vehicles daily. Still, we have a long way to go,” said Mr. Raul L. Ignacio, President and General Manager of Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation.

Once the entire project has been completed, the travel time to Makati and Taguig from Parañaque City, Las Pinas City, and Cavite Province is seen to be reduced by forty-five (45) minutes.

A small “inconvenience” for progress and faster travel shouldn’t be such a bad thing, right?
