The Department of Transportation (DOTr) together with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte re-opened the refreshed San Pablo-Lucena PNR line last June 25, 2022. This is a significant step considering that the San Pablo-Lucena PNR line was closed for around 10 years, ceasing operations last 2013.

San Pablo-Lucena PNR line Details
The length of the line is 44km and will have two main stations and four flag stops, serving four municipalities and one city in the provinces of Laguna and Quezon. According to the DOTr, the daily capacity of the line is around 3,683 passengers.

“I’d like to recognize the DOTr headed by Art, the Philippine National Railways, and local government units for making this happen. We know that with effective transport system, we make places more accessible and easier to manage thereby strengthening trade within rural and urban areas,” President Duterte said.
The PNR San Pablo-Lucena line is part of the restoration project the PNR Bicol or “Bicol Express,” which connects Metro Manila to Southern Luzon provinces, including Laguna, Quezon, Camarines Sur, and Sorsogon.
