A massive fire broke out in the Araneta City Bus Terminal yesterday, February 9. Being a central hub for bus commuters, operations must continue and the business district has relocated the “station”. Depending on the bus route, different pick-up points have been set, as you will see below.
Bus Terminal closed, temporary stations assigned around Araneta City
The Cubao terminal is a very vital hub for commuters around Metro Manila. The City’s administration has been quick on its feet to set new and temporary pickup points for passengers around the area, and buses with the specific routes below are to be stationed as follows:
Cubao – A. Roces: Annapolis corner Aurora Boulevard
Cubao – Dona Carmen: 15th Avenue corner P. Tuazon
Cubao – Marikina: 15th Avenue corner P. Tuazon / Aurora Gateway
Cubao – Pasig: 13th Avenue corner P. Tuazon
Cubao – Novaliches: Gateway, Aurora Boulevard Entrance
Starting February 11, the Beep Jeep Terminals at Araneta City Bus Station will resume operations and they will be situated in Lanes 1 to 10.
Sometime past 4:00 PM yesterday, a fire hit the terminal which was raised to the First Alarm by 4:46 PM. It quickly raised to second to fourth alarm from 4:55 PM to 5:03 PM. No fatalities have been reported, but there was one tallied injury after the incident. The fire was declared “out” at 10:09 PM, about six hours since the blaze began.
It was around the same time that Araneta Center declared that operations at the Times Square Park and Beep Jeep terminals will be suspended until further notice. In between that and this posting, the LTFRB seems to have worked out a contingency with the City which has led to the temporary stations lined up above.
We hope the injured individual recovers fast, and we wish all those affected by the terminal closure safe travels.
