Fresh from the holiday, here’s another price increase news; this time, for NLEX toll fees. Beginning June 15, both the Open and Closed System of the North Luzon Expressway will be hiking their rates, and you’ll see the specific amounts below.
NLEX Toll Fee increase will affect Class 1-3 vehicles
For the NLEX Open System that covers Balintawak, Mindanao Avenue, Karuhatan, Valenzuela, Meycauayan, and Marilao (Bulacan), the toll increase per vehicle class will be as follows:
Class 1: + PHP 7, now PHP 69
Class 2: + PHP 17, now PHP 172
Class 3: + PHP 19, now PHP 206

As for the NLEX Closed System, the increase in toll per vehicle class will be:
From Bocaue (Bulacan) to Santa Ines (Mabalacat, Pampanga)
Class 1: + PHP 26
Class 2: + PHP 65
Class 3: + PHP 77
Starting at Subic-Tipo
Class 1: + PHP 4
Class 2: + PHP 8
Class 3: + PHP 11

For public utility jeepneys with either the Pasada Pass or the Tsuper Card programs, the old NLEX toll fee rates will still apply.
This toll fee increase follows petitions previously put forward by the NLEX Corporation dating back to 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2020. The increase that we will be seeing in a few days will cover the 2012 and 2014 price adjustments, as well as half of 2018 and 2020’s. The Toll Regulatory Board stated that this price increase by NLEX Corporation is “to help curb the existing inflationary situation and cushion the impact on users of the expressway.”
With the increase of the general cost of living and commodities in the country and the world, plus the fact that NLEX’s petitions date as far back as eleven years ago, perhaps this was already to be expected. Maybe we’ll just have to plan to stay north a little bit longer to make the best out of the NLEX toll fee that we’ll be paying, then.
