It’s been less than 2 months since their introduction in the Philippines, but for those who are wondering about just how safe both the 2023 Ford Ranger and Everest models are, this news bit will definitely set your mind at ease. That’s because all variants of both models (except the Ranger Raptor because it’s yet to be tested) got the highest safety ratings possible in the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).
Both the Ford Ranger and Everest and all their variants get perfect scores: 5/5 stars
As part of the entire assessment, vehicles are made to go through 4 safety tests that deal with adult occupant protection (AOP), child occupant protection (COP), vulnerable road user protection (VRUP), and safety assist.

For the Ranger, it garnered 84% for AOP, 93% for COP, 74% for VRUP, and 83% for safety assist. The units that were used for testing came equipped with dual frontal, side chest-protecting and side head-protecting curtain airbags, plus a driver and passenger knee airbag. It also had a center airbag that provided more protection for front seat occupants in side impact crashes.
As for the Everest, it scored 86% for AOP, 93% for COP, 74% for VRUP, and 86% for safety assist. The SUV’s scores weren’t too far off from that of its pickup cousin, and they were just as impressive.
“This is good news for fleets, families and tradies, as well as recreational consumers – everyone who uses these models for work and play. A five-star safety rating isn’t an easy achievement, yet it is particularly important when considering the very broad range of uses for the Ranger and Everest,” Carla Hoorweg, ANCAP CEO
For those who take safety as a prime factor in choosing a pickup or SUV, then this gives both the Ranger and Everest a pretty significant edge compared to the competition. Despite not getting a numerical 100% value, getting such scores is by no means an easy feat for any manufacturer or vehicle model. Granted that their main competitors may get grades close to these Ford vehicles’ ratings, the fact is that these are pretty hard to beat, especially since they span the entire variant line-up of both models.
Whatever you opt to get, you’re already given a pretty reliable assurance that your pick is definitely a safe choice. If this is any indication of Ford’s plans for safety and quality, then it’s a big step in the right direction. Locally we know of some stories that might sway consumers from getting anything with the Blue Oval badge, but after seeing this, perhaps they can be swayed towards the other direction this time.
