After an exhaustive development and testing process, Porsche announces the imminent release of the first Porsche 911 sports car equipped with a hybrid drive system, marking a significant milestone in the iconic model’s 61-year history.
Frank Moser, Vice President of Model Line 911 and 718, expresses the innovative leap: “For the first time in our icon’s 61-year history, we are installing a hybrid drive system in a roadgoing 911. This innovative performance hybrid makes the 911 even more dynamic.”
Moser emphasizes the thoroughness of the development process, highlighting the rigorous testing conducted worldwide, from freezing cold conditions to scorching heat, including the final stages in Dubai. Engineers and test drivers accumulated over five million kilometers during development, ensuring the vehicle’s adaptability to various environments and driving conditions.
The new 911’s performance is showcased through impressive test results at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, where Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister completed a lap 8.7 seconds faster than its predecessor. Equipped with standard road tires and an aero kit featuring a fixed rear wing for increased downforce, the new 911 demonstrates enhanced grip, power, and responsiveness attributed to its hybrid system.
Bergmeister remarks on the vehicle’s performance improvements: “The new 911 has become considerably faster on the track. We have more grip, significantly more power, and the spontaneous response of the performance hybrid is a great advantage.”
The eagerly anticipated world premiere of the new Porsche 911 will be broadcast on May 28 at 15:00 CEST or 3:00 PM in the Philippines. It promises to unveil a groundbreaking addition to the renowned 911 lineup.
