First PH Dendo Drive Station launched in Mitsubishi Manila Bay

Electric power is the future, and Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. certainly believes that. Within the walls of its newest dealership in Manila Bay, MMPC has opened the country’s first Dendo Drive Station. But what is it, exactly?

In cooperation with Meralco and piloted under Peak Motors Philippines, Inc. (PMPI), the country’s first Station is meant to showcase and allow Filipinos to get first-hand education and experience of the brand’s Vehicle-To-Home energy ecosystem. That’s a mouthful. But really, what it means is that aside from the System being able to charge Outlander PHEV units, it also shows how the unit can likewise be the supplier of electricity.

“We are very happy to have achieved this milestone with our dealer partner PMPI and energyproviderMeralco. Mitsubishi Motors has always been dedicated to continuously studying technologies and gaining expertise when it comes to vehicle electrification. The Dendo Drive Station is a manifestation of this, bringing a new kind of value in terms of eco-mobility,” – Takeshi Hara, President andCEO of MMPC

But the facility wasn’t meant for vehicle use alone. Cognizant of the country as being one of the most prone to natural disasters and power outages in the Southeast Asian region, the Dendo Drive Station, as well as the Outlander PHEV, can also serve as a reliable source of electricity in the event of an emergency. All this while reaping the benefits related to the use of solar energy such as fuel cost savings and reduced carbon footprints.

With the help of Meralco and its subsidiaries, two charging pods were put up in the Manila Bay dealership: one is an IKS bi-directional charger on the showroom floor, while the other is a Delta DC Wallbox in the vehicle receiving area.

“The Dendo Drive Station is a testament to Meralco and Mitsubishi’s commitment to promoting a new energy ecosystem where consumers can generate, store and share energy. … We not only provide reliable power, we also give our customers the option to decarbonize their source of power.” – Ferdinand O. Geluz, Meralco First Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer

The Dendo Drive Station is a part of Mitsubishi’s long-term plan of helping achieve a sustainable society by 2030. Another push from the brand is to be able to give a great and positive impact on communities where their dealerships are located. With more of our help from the consumers’ end, we can help them by raising more awareness and instilling confidence in electric power, and environmental sustainability. This Station is only one step toward realizing this, and we can expect more to come from Mitsubishi in the coming years.
