Isuzu Motors Limited has announced the start of sales for the upgraded GIGA heavy-duty truck here at Japan Mobility Show 2025. It features enhanced safety systems, connected technologies, and a refreshed design. The model will make its world premiere at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 on October 30.

The updated GIGA, powered by the 6UZ1 engine (excluding tractor variants equipped with GH11/GH13 engines), introduces several firsts in Japan’s commercial vehicle sector, including a standard Wheel Detachment Prediction Detection System designed to prevent wheel separation accidents.

Isuzu has equipped all GIGA trucks with the following comprehensive set of safety systems to prevent accidents and support future autonomous driving development:

Wheel Detachment Prediction Detection System: Detects abnormal wheel nut looseness on rear axle tires and alerts the driver before separation occurs — a first for any Japanese automaker.

Pre-Crash Brake (PCB) System: Now standard on all models, it detects pedestrians during right and left turns at intersections and automatically applies braking to avoid or mitigate collisions.

Cyclist Collision Prevention Function: Activates brakes when a risk of collision with a cyclist arises during left turns.

Lane Keep Assist (LKA) with Side Collision Avoidance: Helps prevent side collisions by steering the vehicle back to the lane center when another vehicle, motorcycle, or bicycle is detected in the adjacent lane.

Isuzu has also launched Japan’s first “body connected service”, which monitors the condition of both the truck and its cargo body. Integrated with Isuzu’s MIMAMORI telematics and PREISM operational support systems, the service transmits data through the GATEX commercial vehicle information platform.

Through an API link with cargo body manufacturers, customers can view real-time data — including refrigeration unit conditions — via a dedicated web interface, enabling faster maintenance response and reduced downtime.
The system will first be available on Ryojyu Coldchain’s “G-Cargo Cool” and “G-Cargo Cool Wing” models, with plans to expand to other configurations.

Hopefully, that feature will also be extended to other countries in the future as well.

Under the theme “THE ULTIMATE,” the new GIGA adopts a bold and refined exterior featuring Isuzu’s “World Cross Flow” grille motif, aligning its identity with the ELF and FORWARD truck series.

Isuzu also expands its completed vehicle lineup with:

A G-Cargo low-bed tri-axle truck (GVW 25 tons) featuring a new energy-saving package by NIPPON TREX, including aerodynamic side skirts and rear flaps for improved fuel efficiency.

A new high-volume wing-body vehicle by TRANTECHS, offering an interior height of 2,680 mm for increased cargo capacity.

Isuzu aims to sell 12,000 units per year across the entire GIGA series.

With these upgrades, the new GIGA combines improved safety, more innovative connectivity, and greater operational efficiency, reinforcing its position as Isuzu’s flagship heavy-duty truck for modern logistics needs.
