A week before its official unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show 2020 event, Kia has revealed the design and specs of its upcoming SUV, the 2021 Sorento.
The new 4th generation Kia Sorento feature several improvements to its aesthetic with more contemporary geometric details. Kia also updated the “tiger nose” front grille, and “tiger eye” LED headlights to be wider and more expansive to depict “the intense impression of the lines around a tiger’s eyes.”
Inside, the interior has been upscaled with metallic trims, leather upholstery, and embossed wood-effect surfaces. It features the updated 10.25-inch infotainment system and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster for more clarity and connectivity.
Powering the 2021 Kia Sorento is a 1.6L T-GDi engine paired with a 44.2 kW electric motor capable of outputting a combined 230 ps power and 350 Nm torque. Users can also choose the 2.5L T-GDi engine variant capable of 281 ps and 421 Nm of torque. Lastly, there’s also a 2.2L Smartstream diesel engine variant, capable of producing 202ps and 440Nm of torque. Both the 2.5L and 2.2L variants are matched with the new 8-speed wet double-clutch transmission (8DCT) to provide smooth shifting and better efficiency.
The release of the 2021 Kia Sorento will vary depending on the country, starting with North America. Other markets will follow by early 2021. We’ll report more on its pricing and complete specs once Kia officially unveils the 2021 Kia Sorento at the Geneva Motor Show on March 3.
