MIAS 2023: GAC Emkoo steals the spotlight of this year’s show

Word was that GAC was going to launch their newest compact SUV, the Emkoo, at this year’s Manila International Auto Show. That’s right. Today, the brand’s ultra-modern 5-seater has taken the spotlight and along with its other stablemates, has drawn a crowd and shown off what it has to offer.

GAC Emkoo: the “most ideal” vehicle for today’s generation

“Inspired by the future”, the Emkoo is being billed as the brand’s “embodiment of bold and futuristic new look for its global SUVs, underpinned by GAC’s Global Platform Modular Architecture and characterized by the brand’s pioneering styling, intelligent driving technologies, and high-efficiency drivetrains”.

The exterior features a borderless V-shape grill, with sleek LED headlights and DRL assemblies properly accentuating it. The futuristic look continues with its low-nose and high-tail profile and also features chrome and black trims, hidden door handles that pop out when activated, and a swooping diagonal angle that cuts across the passenger doors. Other features include a uniquely-shaped high-level brake light, V-shape formation tail lights, dual vertical twin exhaust pipes, and 19-inch multi-spoke wheels.

Inside, intelligent technology is integrated and fine materials were used in the cabin of the GAC Emkoo. Meticulously-crafted and hand-sewn leather seats and high-quality finishes on the panels are the upholstery and trim pieces of choice. It also features a four-way adjustable multi-function steering wheel, a 10.1-inch multifunctional touchscreen with Apple CarPlay integration, speed-based volume adjustment, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a keyless start button, power adjust settings and ventilation for the front-row seats, automatic air-conditioning with second-row vents, and configurable ambient lighting.

As for safety, the Emkoo comes with a slew of features such as dual front and side curtain airbags, an Electronic Stability Program, Hill Start Hold and Hill Descent controls, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. It also comes with rear parking sensors and a surround-view camera system to help drivers park with ease, a host of Advanced Driving Assist Systems (ADAS) including Adaptive Cruise Control with Integrated Cruise Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Lane Keep Assist.

Powering the GAC Emkoo is a 1.5 GDI turbo petrol engine that makes 177 HP and 270 Nm of torque. It is paired with a quick-shifting, seven-speed Wet Dual Clutch Transmission and is said to be capable of making 16.1 km/L. It will be available in two variants, with the GE retailing for PHP 1,413,000 and the higher-spec GL for PHP 1,553,000. The 5 color options are Lagoon Green (launch color), Glacier White, Moon Grey, Starry Silver, and Elegant Black.

GAC shows off the rest of its line-up

Gac Mias 2023 Model Lineup Prices Min

For a limited time only, GAC Motor Philippines is offering an additional PHP 20,000 discount on top of current promo offers on all vehicle reservations made at the MIAS or in any GAC dealership nationwide from April 13 to 16, 2023. Low-interest financing plans are also offered in partnership with Security Bank. Each vehicle purchased comes with a five-year warranty on parts and services.

From crossovers, SUVs, MPVs, and even sports sedans, GAC is on a bit of a roll. It shouldn’t be surprising that we’re seeing more of them on the roads; that comes with good reason. From great offerings to competitive pricing, the brand is really working hard to gain a solid foothold in the PH market. If the Emkoo and the rest of the line-up have anything to say about it, it’s probably “watch out, here we come”.
