Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has officially unveiled the all-new Destinator, a seven-seat midsize SUV, ahead of the 32nd GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show. Sales in Indonesia will begin on July 23, with the model also set to launch in other ASEAN markets such as Vietnam and the Philippines, as well as in South Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. The Destinator is manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia in Bekasi, West Java.

Developed under the concept of a “Confidence Booster for Energetic Families,” the Destinator combines a refined SUV design with practicality, comfort, and performance. It offers three-row seating in a spacious interior designed for family use, along with a high driving position and commanding exterior presence. The front design features Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield face, a layered acrylic grille, and horizontal lighting elements to convey strength and stability. At the rear, the design draws inspiration from classic Pajero models, with a hexagonal motif and vertically oriented T-shaped LED lighting.

Inside, the Destinator offers a premium feel with soft-touch materials and an expansive cabin layout. The seats are designed for comfort across all three rows, with a focus on providing sufficient headroom, legroom, and support. A panoramic sunroof, 64-color ambient lighting system, and extensive storage options throughout the cabin enhance daily usability. The second and third rows can be folded to expand cargo space, allowing for flexible storage configurations. The infotainment system includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen and an 8-inch digital driver display, both integrated into a single panel. Connectivity and comfort features can be accessed via the SDA screen, including control of the sunroof and ambient lighting. A Yamaha Premium audio system, developed specifically for the vehicle, provides a customizable sound experience for all occupants.

Power comes from a 1.5-liter turbocharged MIVEC engine producing 160 hp and 250 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT transmission. The powertrain delivers smooth, responsive acceleration suited to both urban and highway driving. The vehicle is equipped with MacPherson front struts and rear torsion beams, with suspension tuned specifically for the road conditions common in ASEAN markets. Ground clearance reaches 214 mm (244 mm without the under cover), with favorable approach and departure angles to assist in rough terrain or inclement weather.

The Destinator is equipped with Mitsubishi Motors Safety Sensing, a suite of advanced driver assistance systems that includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Mitigation, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and a Multi-Around Monitor. Six airbags and a high-rigidity body structure contribute to crash safety. The vehicle also offers connected services, including automatic emergency alerts when airbags deploy, one-touch emergency calling, remote vehicle status checks, and air conditioning control through a smartphone app.

According to Mitsubishi CEO Takao Kato, the Destinator is the company’s third global model developed in Indonesia, following the Xpander and Xforce. He emphasized Indonesia’s importance in Mitsubishi’s global strategy and the brand’s commitment to supporting the growth of the local auto industry.
