It today’s good news for the citizens of Quezon City, Mayor Joy Belmonte has just signed City Ordinance No. SP-3184, S-2023. Quite a mouthful? Let’s put it simply: this means that the Quezon City Bus Service is now free, as the good Mayor would say, forever. And it’s not just for residents; if you “are working, studying, or transacting within the City”, you won’t need to pay to ride. The confirmation was posted on Joy Belmonte’s Twitter account.
Better mass transport; QCity Bus also hopes to help in reduction of traffic
Mayor Joy Belmonte’s signature on Ordinance No. SP-3184, S-2023 all but made the QCity bus free for life. With the QCity Bus, commuters will get to save when going to their workplace or school. It is also a big help to reduce traffic in our City].”
Belmonte went on to add some trivia about the Quezon City Bus Service 22, saying “Alam niyo rin ba na simula noong taong 2020, nang umpisahan ang libreng sakay ng QCity Bus, ay 12 million residente na ang mga naksakay dito [Did you know that since starting the free rides of the QCity Bus in 2020, 12 million residents have already ridden on it]?”
That’s a lot of commuters in just two years. Now that its free service will continue forever, Belmonte’s hopes and aspirations may actually be real and attainable for everyone in Quezon City.
There are currently eight (8) QCity Bus Routes and all buses plying them won’t cost a single centavo to ride. For your ease and reference, here’s our complete guide to the QCity Bus Service 71 routes, stops, and times.
Thank you, Mayor Belmonte! Quezon Citizens have your gratitude!
