The Toyota Gazoo Racing festival is set to be one of the biggest racing events this year
2023 is an important year for Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) because this year marks the brand’s 35th anniversary in the country. Capitalizing on that milestone the brand has been making a lot of noise in the past few months, but the ‘biggest bang’ is yet to come with the 2023 Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Festival which will be held from August 23-24, 2023 at the Quirino Grandstand.
So what does the country’s number 1 brand have in store for fans and owners during the festivities?
Morizo is Coming

The most anticipated highlight of the 2023 TGR Festival is that Toyota’s leader and the Father of GR Akio Toyoda will be making an appearance. Also known under the alias of ‘Morizo’ Toyoda-san will not only be attending the event but will also be showcasing his driving skills during an exhibition.
Morizo is Toyoda’s code name when he participates in international race events in order to keep his true identity a secret.
Accompanying Morizo will be other Japanese champion racers from the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing team Norihiko Katsuta and Masahiro Sasaki, bringing with them race cars that have competed in rally races around the world; Toyota WRC Yaris and Red Bull GR Corolla.
Some local talent will also be showcasing their drifting skills namely, Alex Perez, Luis Gono, Marlon Stockinger, and Ryan Agoncillo will be participating in the drifting and gymkhana exhibition using TGR’s performance cars GR Supra, GR Yaris, and GR 86.

Some lucky eventgoers can also win a chance to ride along with some of the pro drivers in the Toyota WRC Yaris or Red Bull GR Corolla! This is an exciting opportunity for attendees to experience riding the cars that have pushed Toyota’s limits for the better and have paved the way for making ever-better cars.
Apart from the ride-along, Toyota will also be raffling off some official GR merchandise to lucky event attendees. Not to worry though, those who don’t win can still purchase official GR merchandise that will be available throughout the event.
TGR GT Cup Philippines 2023 National Finals
One of the rising aspects of racing nowadays has been the acceptance and rise of E-games, and Toyota has been at the forefront of supporting e-racers through the TGR GT Cup. The National Finals will also be held during the festival and will determine which e-racers will represent the Philippines at the TGR GT Cup Asia Regional, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this coming September 2023
