Hyundai Motor has officially revealed the all-new NEXO, a next-generation fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) at Seoul Mobility Show 2025 that builds on the INITIUM concept first shown in October 2024. The updated model introduces Hyundai’s new “Art of Steel” design language, emphasizing structural integrity, durability, and functionality.

Inside, the NEXO offers an airy and spacious cabin designed for comfort and usability. Soft-touch materials, a curved driver-centric display, and intuitive controls aim to elevate the in-car experience. The vehicle has also grown in size compared to its predecessor, offering improved passenger space and cargo volume. It can easily accommodate four golf bags with up to 993 liters of storage capacity.

Under the hood, Hyundai has introduced upgrades to major fuel cell and power electronics systems. A third-generation electric drive motor boosts performance, reducing the 0-100 km/h time from 9.2 seconds to as low as 7.8 seconds. These updates improve acceleration and ensure smoother overtaking and highway driving.

The hydrogen tank capacity has increased from 6.33kg to 6.69kg, enabling an estimated range of over 700 kilometers on a full charge—achievable in about five minutes.
Safety remains a core focus. The all-new NEXO uses hot stamping and high-strength materials to maximize body rigidity and crash protection. A multi-skeleton structure with nine airbags and reinforced hydrogen tank safety aims to meet top safety standards globally.

Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are also part of the package. Key among them is the updated Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA 2) with Evasive Steering Assist, which can automatically intervene to help avoid accidents if a clear path is available.
The NEXO is part of Hyundai’s continued push in hydrogen mobility and infrastructure, reinforcing its position as a leader in the FCEV market. It follows in the footsteps of the former Hydrogen-powered ix35.
