After what looked to be a full month of fuel price increases, the end of January brings better news. Tomorrow, January 28, 2025, the prices of both gasoline and diesel products are set to have a rollback, breaking the 3-week streak of hikes since the start of the new year. As pump prices are updated, we can expect gas prices to be cheaper by PHP 0.80USD 0.01INR 1EUR 0.01CNY 0.10 and diesel by PHP 0.20USD 0.00INR 0.29EUR 0.00CNY 0.02 per liter. Finally!
Fuel price hike streak is finally broken!
We can’t be blamed for feeling a bit hopeless since the start of the year. Fact remains that it was week upon week of fuel price increases since, but tomorrow we’re finally getting a good break from the incessant rise in gas and diesel prices. Though at different times across different brands, gasoline will be lower by PHP 0.80USD 0.01INR 1EUR 0.01CNY 0.10 and diesel by PHP 0.20USD 0.00INR 0.29EUR 0.00CNY 0.02 tomorrow. Not enough to recoup the total amount of increases, but any rollback is a win.
This time around, Cleanfuel will not be the first to adjust its prices. Cleanfuel’s pumps will reflect the new fuel prices later than what we’ve come to remember, now at 8:01 AM. All other brands including Seaoil, Unioil, Shell, Caltex, and Petron among many others will be updating earlier at 6:00 AM. Again, the week’s reduction in prices per liter is not anywhere close to making up for the total that they’ve gone up by, but we’ll take it as good news, regardless.
A lot has been said about alternative sources for power, AKA gas- or diesel-free vehicles, and we are now at a point where electrification has become real and dare we say it more accessible. Take for example Honda with their hybrid offerings, the newest of which is the HR-V e:HEV which they just began taking pre-orders for last week. That’s something worth looking into while we all continue to struggle with the constant flux of fuel prices week by week.
