In a report by GMA News Online published September 20, Tugade said that he has recently signed a Department Order which will extend the validity of car plates and driver’s license to five years from three years.

“Last night I signed a Department Order which will extend the validity of car plates and driver’s license to five years from three years,” Tugade said during the Manila Overseas Press Club (MOPC) Transportation forum.

The department’s plan for next year is for cars to come with plates when sold to consumers.

new vehicle registration is valid for 3 years (luma), baka ito ay naging 5 years na…

old vehicles are re-registered every year… kung magiging every 5 years na ito, tagilid mga fixers ng lto…
    bwahahahahaha,,,

driver’s license validity is 3 years (luma), ito ay naging 5 years valid na… good news for OFWs…

  3. Wait, what? Since when did the validity of car plates expire?

  4. ano po ibig sabihin ng car plates na extended to 5 years? ito po ba yung bagong bili na car na pwede e register ng 3 years advance? or papalitan yun plate after 5 years?

  5. So the new car plates have a validity of 5 years now? Previous car plates really don’t have expiration dates. Unless new designs would come out for implementation. My current (old) car plate is already more than 15 years old.
