Google co-founder unveils Kitty Hawk Flyer

Larry Page, one of the founders of Google and current CEO of Alphabet Inc., has unveiled his long-awaited electric aircraft named Kitty Hawk Flyer. To be honest, we thought we’d be seeing a flyer car but this is also pretty interesting.

It’s like a huge drone that can lift up a human pilot. It can land and take-off vertically from water as it is designed to operate over a body of water. The Flyer is considered to be an Ultralight aircraft per Federal Aviation Administration regulations in the US, which is why there’s no pilot’s license required.

There’s no retail price yet but they are enticing pilots with a $100 three-year membership to put them on a waiting list, first access to future events, and discount for the actual product release. A consumer version will be available by the end of this year, the company says.

Kitty Hawk says that there are no plans to ship the vehicle outside the US.
