In a bid to further improve the ailing transport system, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is looking for possible locations for a large terminal for the EDSA bus carousel around the area of Monumento in Caloocan City.

In a statement, LTFRB chair Cheloy Garafil said, “We are looking at three areas in Caloocan for the staging area or terminal that is similar to PITX [Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange]. One is the PNR Compound in Sangandaan Caloocan, second is the Victory Liner, which is four kilometers away in Valenzuela side and the other one is in Monumento area beside Starbucks restaurant.”
She further added that the initiative to conduct an ocular of the areas was given by Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista.
The EDSA Busway in 2021 recorded a total ridership of 47,104,197, serving an average passenger volume of 129,000 daily. The numbers are expected to rise further with the opening up of the economy and the return of face-to-face classes.
Hopefully, the DOTr along with other stakeholders can implement the planned Caloocan terminal soon.
