Inevitable traffic: Partial closure of C5-Ortigas and C5-Pasig Boulevard Flyover southbound lanes

Not one, but two flyovers are scheduled for repairs that will last until December 30. As of December 2, southbound lanes on both the C5 Ortigas and C5-Pasig Boulevard flyovers will be closed at specified times to make way for DPWH’s rehabilitation works on the infrastructures.

Flyovers along C5 will have lanes temporarily closed from 10:00 PM – 5:00 AM every day

Portions of the southbound lane of the C-5 Ortigas and Pasig Boulevard Flyover will be closed to traffic. Damages have been observed in their expansion joints, and to avoid any untoward incidents, the DPWH sees fit to repair them immediately.

Regular repair works including removal of existing expansion joints and chipping works will be conducted, followed by installing new bridge expansion joints, and replacing the old bridge expansion joints on identified spans in the southbound portion of the flyovers. A budget of PHP 12USD 0.20INR 17EUR 0.20CNY 1.9M will be allocated to repair 37.25 meters of five expansion joints of the C5-Ortigas, while PHP 18USD 0.31INR 26EUR 0.29CNY 2.7M will be used to repair 52.50 meters of C5-Pasig Boulevard’s seven expansion joints.

While repairs are scheduled at night until the early hours of the morning, the DPWH still advises motorists to explore alternate routes to avoid unavoidable congestion along both stretches. The rehabilitation project will restore the integrity of the flyovers, and ensure the safety of motorists and commuters from Pasig, Quezon City, and Makati.
