Dongfeng Philippines launches E70 PRO EV sedan–Made for fleet applications

Dongfeng Motors Philippines has officially introduced the Dongfeng E70 PRO, its first fully electric sedan, signaling the brand’s entry into the local electric vehicle (EV) market. The launch took place at Dongfeng Motors Ortigas and was led by key officials from Legado Motors Inc., the official distributor of Dongfeng vehicles in the country.

Present at the event were Legado Motors executives, including President and CEO Wilbert Lim, Deputy CEO Brennan Lim, CFO Regina Singson Lim, and VP for Sales and Operations Giovanni Frias. Also in attendance were dealer partners and stakeholders.

In his opening remarks, Deputy CEO Brennan Lim emphasized the relevance of the E70 PRO amid rising fuel prices and increasing demand for cleaner transportation. “We are opening the doors to a smarter, greener, and more sustainable way of moving forward,” he said.

The E70 PRO features a fully electric powertrain capable of traveling up to 420 kilometers on a single charge. It offers a spacious cabin, a comfortable ride, and is designed for both personal and fleet use. Safety is also a priority with the E70 PRO’s battery, having passed multiple safety tests, including fire, water immersion, extrusion, and heat dissipation.

Internationally, the E70 PRO has already seen use as a fleet vehicle and electric taxi in China and South America. Its arrival in the Philippines is expected to support the country’s gradual shift to electric mobility.

From a cost perspective, the E70 PRO is positioned as a practical choice. Dongfeng Motors claims drivers can save up to ₱47 per 6 to 7 kilometers compared to traditional fuel-powered vehicles. Over 100,000 km, this could amount to over ₱783,000 in savings. With minimal maintenance requirements estimated at ₱35,000 over five years, the vehicle aims to be both affordable and sustainable. As for the price? It’s at ₱1,198,000.

Alongside the vehicle debut, Dongfeng introduced TaxiKo EV, a ride-hailing platform built around the E70 PRO. Attendees were given a first look at the vehicle’s potential role in the future of local on-demand transport.

The launch was met with strong interest, with 65 reservations made during the event. Some units were delivered on the same day.

With its combination of long range, safety-tested design, low running costs, and practical application, the Dongfeng E70 PRO is expected to play a key role in the growth of electric mobility in the Philippines, especially with some taxi companies adding electric vehicles to their fleet.
