Ford PH not ruling out entry of V6 Ranger Raptor just yet

Yesterday the all-new Ford Ranger Raptor was officially launched and there was one question on everybody’s mind, “Where’s the V6?”

Ford PH considering V6 Raptor as a future offering

That’s not to say that the 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo 210 hp engine in the Raptor is insufficient, in fact, it’s more than enough. We just had to ask why the brand decided not to bring in the bigger engine given that it’s available in other markets and the Ranger Raptor is a very popular vehicle in the Philippines.

Why does it matter? well, the performance difference between the 2.0 and the 3.0-liter V6 is quite significant. In Australia for example, which is where the Ranger Raptor was honed and developed, the V6 makes a staggering 392 hp. In Europe meanwhile, there is a slightly detuned V6 that makes 288 hp, either way, the V6 has a considerable amount of power that would be immediately felt in comparison to the 2.0.

The other thing we think played into the no-show V6 for the Philippines is the price, the 2.0-liter Ranger Raptor is being sold for PHP 2,339,000 which is not bad at all, if they were to bring in the V6 estimates for an SRP could reach as high as 2.6-8 Million pesos. That price might have been too much for some buyers, but given the provenance of the Ranger Raptor in the Philippines, I think it would’ve still sold in big numbers.

So there you have it, if you are one of those people who desperately want a V6 Ford Ranger Raptor, not all hope is lost but you need to be extremely patient to get it. In all honesty, though, the 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo gets the job done.
