Not good! Hefty fuel price increase tomorrow, gas by PHP 1.60, diesel PHP 1.10

It’s not a good way to start the week. For those hoping for a streak of fuel price rollbacks, we’re getting the opposite tomorrow, and worse, at a pretty hefty cost. February 20, 2024, will see a price hike per liter of gasoline by PHP 1.60 and diesel by PHP 1.10. With barely any dent in prices despite last week’s rollback, motorists will feel a bigger pinch again this week.

No fuel price rollback for this week

With last week’s barely-one-peso rollback for gas and diesel, not much of a dent was made in the prices of gas and diesel which only continued to skyrocket since the start of the year. While any fuel price rollback is a good rollback, tomorrow’s increase more than makes up for what the motoring public might have “saved” last week.

Different brands will update the pump prices at their respective stations at different times, but Caltex will be the first to drop the hammer at midnight. Later in the morning, we can expect most other players including Shell, Petron, Unioil, Seaoil, and Petro Gazz among others to update at 6:00 AM. Cleanfuel will be the last to increase its fuel prices, as is its common practice, and it will do so at 4:01 PM.

There’s not much anyone can do about the fluctuation of gasoline and diesel prices, but that doesn’t mean we have to like it. That said, we’ll all just have to try and save both fuel and money as best we can. Quite difficult when hikes happen more than rollbacks, but it is what it is. Here’s to hoping that next week brings us better news.
