Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) formally handed over two Hyundai Elantra units to the Philippine National Police (PNP) in a ceremony held on February 27, 2026.

The event was attended by Acting Chief Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Director for Logistics Martin E. Defensor Jr., Deputy Director for Logistics Roel C. Rodolfo, members of the PNP Command Group, and other guests.

Representing HMPH were President Jiho Son and Managing Director Cecil Capacete, who led the turnover. Son said the Elantra patrol cars are built to support the PNP’s mission to protect the public and maintain national security. He added that the handover reflects Hyundai’s position that mobility solutions should adapt to the needs of modern law enforcement.

The units turned over include an Elantra GL STD and an Elantra HEV (hybrid electric vehicle). The patrol cars are modeled after systems used by the Korea National Police Agency.

According to HMPH, the vehicles are equipped with police-specific technologies designed to improve operational efficiency and officer safety. Among the key features is the SMART Patrol Car system, which includes surround-view cameras, radar-based speed detection, and an intelligent plate-recognition system to enhance response capabilities.

Hyundai said the turnover aligns with its global vision of “Progress for Humanity,” highlighting its support for public safety initiatives in the Philippines.
