You might have probably already heard the news of the Hyundai Palisade having an issue with its third-row seating. More specifically, its safety buffer. The motors can crush a full pack of bottled water, and no, we are not talking about a simple bottle here, but rather a whole pack of 1-liter plastic water bottles can be crushed whenever the seat is folded and tumbled down.

More recently, a child was killed due to these circumstances, and now an update has been launched by Hyundai on a global scale.

Locally, Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) has announced a service action for selected Hyundai Palisade Hybrid units currently in the Philippine market.

The company said authorized Hyundai dealerships nationwide will install a software update to improve the operation of the vehicle’s second- and third-row power seat system. The update is part of Hyundai’s ongoing efforts to maintain safety and vehicle quality.

The revised software removes the one-touch activation feature for the power seats and replaces it with a press-and-hold function. This change requires deliberate passenger input when folding or unfolding the seats, which Hyundai says is intended to improve passenger safety.
The service will be performed free of charge at all authorized Hyundai dealerships and is expected to take only a short time.

A total of 123 Palisade Hybrid units in the Philippines are affected by the service action. Customers with affected vehicles will be contacted directly by their respective dealerships with instructions on how to book an appointment.

HMPH is encouraging owners to have the update completed promptly to ensure proper vehicle operation.
