PHP 1 Billion extension to Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) reportedly in the works

It has to be said that the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) is one of the most admired roadworks in recent times. In fact, it’s probably the highway/tollway that many motorists (really) want to drive on.

While it is still technically a newly finished transportation infrastructure, the tollway operator Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) is looking to enhance the bridge even further.

CCLEX Extension

A report by the Cebu Daily News and Philippine Daily Inquirer state that MPTC is eyeing an extension for the newly opened expressway. While there are no specific details as of yet, it is believed that the extension will span 2km and will connect CCLEX to Cebu City’s central business district. This is according to CCLEX President Allan Alfon.

“Cebu City is looking at reviving the Guadalupe ramp exit and entry. It leads you right to the central business district,” Alfon reportedly said. It is said that about 12,500 vehicles pass through CCLEx on a daily basis, which translates to P1 million to P1.4 million in gross revenues from toll collection per day. The majority of these are class 1 vehicles, which include vans, cars, and pickups.

Furthermore, the extension project is all for the improvement of the traffic problems that Cebu is also known to experience.
