Global ride-hailing platform inDrive, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), distributed Php 5,000 in cash relief assistance to thousands of inDrive partner drivers on May 16 at the SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City.
The payout was part of DSWD’s directive requiring transportation network vehicle service (TNVS) companies to set up their own distribution centers amid rising fuel prices, which are affecting driver income.
inDrive handled the end-to-end logistics of the event, from driver notifications to on-site operations. The company used SMS and in-app messaging to notify eligible drivers and implemented a color-coded batch system to manage crowd flow and reduce wait times. Government representatives, an operations team, and a medical team were present throughout the day.
Before the event, inDrive helped drivers validate and update their records to meet requirements set by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), which the company said reduced processing issues during the payout.

“The past few months have not been easy for the ride-hailing industry, most especially for our partner drivers,” said inDrive Philippines Country Manager Sofia Guinto. “Through our partnership with the DSWD and the LTFRB, the cash relief assistance payout enabled us to support a significant number of our partner drivers.”
DSWD Undersecretary for Operations Pinky Romualdez said the initiative showed how government and private sector partners could work together to deliver timely support.
“We thank inDrive for organizing this large-scale payout for its partner drivers,” Romualdez said.
Aside from the relief payout, inDrive said it maintains an effective commission rate of 8.92% — one of the lowest in the market — with rates as low as 1% in select high-demand areas. The platform also absorbs 100% of government-mandated discounts for persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and students, and offers partner drivers access to SeaOil fuel discounts and other rewards programs.
