Subaru Corporation has announced its exhibit plans for the Japan Mobility Show 2025, which runs from October 29 to November 9 at Tokyo Big Sight.
Under the theme “Driving the Subaru Difference,” the company will highlight its philosophy of human-centered engineering and its commitment to delivering “Enjoyment and Peace of Mind.” Subaru’s booth will focus on two key areas: the Performance Scene, showcasing the joy of driving, and the Adventure Scene, emphasizing exploration and outdoor excitement.
The Performance Scene will host the world premiere of two STI concept models—the Performance-E STI concept and Performance-B STI concept. Meanwhile, the Adventure Scene will feature the Trailseeker prototype (Japan premiere) and Wilderness variants of the Forester and Outback, along with the 1983 Subaru GL Family Huckster, a revived classic from Subaru of America.
Subaru President Atsushi Osaki will hold a press conference at the Subaru booth (East Exhibition Hall 5) on October 29 at 12:30 PM JST. The event will be streamed live on Subaru’s official YouTube channel, with English subtitles available during and after the broadcast.
Subaru aims to display a couple of notable models, including concept STI’s which may signify the return of the famed performance nameplate.
Performance-E STI Concept (World Premiere)

A battery electric vehicle (BEV) concept representing the future of Subaru’s performance lineup. It combines dynamic proportions, aerodynamic design, and practicality, offering a spacious interior and an intuitive, driver-focused experience.
Performance-B STI Concept (World Premiere)

An internal combustion engine (ICE) concept showcasing Subaru’s engineering heritage. It features a horizontally-opposed engine and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, aiming to balance power, performance, and everyday usability.
Trailseeker Prototype (Japan Premiere)

The second model in Subaru’s global BEV lineup, the Trailseeker combines electric precision with crossover practicality. It is designed for both daily commutes and outdoor adventures.
Forester Wilderness Prototype (Reference Exhibit)

A rugged version of the Forester featuring redesigned bumpers, larger wheel arch cladding, exclusive LED fog lamps, and improved off-road capability.
Outback Wilderness Prototype (Reference Exhibit)

An upgraded Outback variant with enhanced off-road performance, built to support diverse lifestyles in harmony with nature.

1983 Subaru GL Family Huckster (Reference Exhibit)

A restomod project by Subaru of America based on the 1983 Subaru GL Wagon. It incorporates modern technology while preserving Subaru’s design DNA, symbolizing the brand’s blend of heritage and innovation. Travis Pastrana drives this for stunts, time attacks, rallycross, and the like.
In any case, it is quite clear that the main centerpiece at the Subaru booth would be the two STI concepts shown. We just hope that it will translate to a return of the performance nameplate sometime in the near future.
