BMW has officially introduced the 2025 M2 CS, a high-performance special edition of the second-generation M2. Combining track-focused engineering with everyday usability, the M2 CS will be produced in limited numbers at the BMW Group Plant in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. Deliveries are expected to begin later this year.

The M2 CS is powered by a revised version of BMW’s 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine, featuring M TwinPower Turbo technology. Output is increased to 530 hp, 50 hp more than the standard M2. Torque also rises by 50 Nm to 650 Nm, available between 2,650 and 5,730 rpm. The power is delivered to the rear wheels via a standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic.

The M2 CS is approximately 30 kg lighter than the standard M2, thanks to the extensive use of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) in both exterior and interior components. Standard forged M light-alloy wheels further reduce unsprung mass.

With increased power and reduced weight, the M2 CS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, 0.2 seconds quicker than the regular M2. Using the 1-foot rollout method, the time is 3.5 seconds. Acceleration to 200 km/h is achieved with rollout in 11.7 seconds or 11.4 seconds. Mid-range acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h takes 3.4 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 302 km/h and includes the M Driver’s Package as standard.

The engine is derived from the unit used in BMW’s M4 GT3 EVO race car. It includes a forged crankshaft, closed-deck crankcase, mono-scroll turbochargers, and a 3D-printed cylinder head core. The cooling and oil systems are designed for durability under track conditions. Transmission shift behavior is customizable via Drivelogic, with manual control available through paddle shifters.

The suspension is lowered by 8 mm and specially tuned for the CS model. Adaptive dampers, revised spring rates, and recalibrated chassis systems improve handling. Standard M Compound brakes with red calipers provide braking, with optional M Carbon ceramic brakes also available. Standard wheels are 19-inch front and 20-inch rear forged alloys in matte Gold Bronze fitted with track tires.

The exterior includes several CFRP elements such as the roof, diffuser, front splitter, rear spoiler, and boot lid. Unique design features include a black kidney grille and a red-outlined “M2 CS” badge. Four exterior paint options are offered: Sapphire Black metallic, BMW Individual Velvet Blue metallic, M Brooklyn Grey metallic, and M Portimao Blue metallic. Adaptive LED headlights with darkened Shadowline inlays are standard.
Inside, the car features weight-optimized M Carbon bucket seats trimmed in Merino leather and Alcantara, a carbon center console, and trim elements in M Carbon Fibre. The standard M Alcantara steering wheel includes red accents and integrated M buttons. Ambient lighting is adjustable, and the interior features illuminated CS logos on door panels and sills.

The M2 CS runs on BMW Operating System 8.5, displayed on a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch central display. Standard tech includes a head-up display, augmented navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Harman Kardon audio system. Climate controls are now integrated into the touchscreen or can be adjusted via voice commands.

Performance customization is managed via a central Setup button, allowing adjustments to engine response, suspension, steering, brakes, and traction control. M Drive Professional includes features such as M Traction Control, M Drift Analyser, and M Laptimer for performance tracking.

Driver assistance systems, including lane departure warning, collision alert, speed limit information, and parking assist, come standard. Adaptive cruise control and the Driving Assistant package are available as options.
As with past CS models, the BMW M2 CS will be limited in production. While BMW has not disclosed exact numbers, the U.S., Germany, and China are expected to receive most units.
